Discovering UK: Windsor Castle

The 11th of May was a cloudy and rain-menacing Sunday, and it just fit between two sunny weekends. Of course, my parents came over just in time to enjoy the worst of the typical English weather. Forget what I wrote about cliches a few months ago, this is May and usually Milan is blossoming and wonderful this time of the year. Therefore if the British weather in May is crappy, I will complain.

Anyway. Could rain stop us from enjoying what Britain has to offer? Of course not. And there we were, a party of four equipped with umbrellas and reflex, heading to Windsor Castle.

L'11 maggio è stata una domenica nuvolosa e minacciante pioggia, perfettamente incastonata tra due weekend di sole. E naturalmente i miei sono venuti a trovarci giusto in tempo per godere del peggio del tipico clima inglese. Dimenticatevi pure cosa ho scritto a proposito degli stereotipi sugli anglosassoni qualche mese fa. Siamo a maggio, il mese più bello dell'anno a Milano. Il che significa che se il meteo britannico è un po' una merda (concedetemi l'inglesismo), me ne lamenterò. 
Comunque. Poteva un po' di pioggia impedirci di godere ciò che l'Inghilterra ha da offrire? Ma naturalmente no, E quindi eccoci là, in quattro, equipaggiati di ombrelli e reflex, in direzione del Castello di Windsor.

Discovering UK: an afternoon in Windsor

Today I meant writing something else and I've already started preparing a post about my home town, where I was last week on a short holiday. But unfortunately I haven't finish, yet. The thing is: today it was sunny and the weather was to good to stay at home. Plus, a friend of ours had a rental car for the day, it would have been a waste not to go somewhere. So, we ended up in Windsor, where there's probably the most famous official residence of the British Royal Family after Buckingham Palace.

Nelle mie intenzioni il post di oggi doveva essere un altro e infatti avevo già iniziato a preparare un lungo articolo su Milano, la mia città, essendoci stata settimana scorsa per una breve vacanza. Solo che purtroppo non l'ho finito. Il fatto è che oggi c'era un tempo troppo bello per stare in casa davanti al computer. Oltretutto un amico aveva un'auto a noleggio per la giornata e sarebbe stato uno spreco non approfittarne. Insomma, siamo finiti a Windsor. Sì, esattamente lì, dove c'è la più famosa residenza ufficiale della famiglia reale inglese (che non a caso fa Windsor di cognome).
