Postcards from West Wittering

A few weeks ago I wrote about how much I've been craving for the Mediterranean sea. Well, I'm still waiting for that, but couldn't wait any longer for seeing a beach and sailing boats and seagulls and everything. That's why, on the bank holiday weekend, we went South and spent a couple of days in Chichester area. And that's how we discovered West Wittering.

Qualche settimana fa ho scritto di quanto sento il bisognodi Mediterraneo. Be', per quello sto ancora aspettando, ma non resistevo più al richiamo del mare e delle barche a vela e dei gabbiani e di tutto il resto. E così, approfittando del weekend di bank holiday della scorsa settimana, siamo andati a sud e abbiamo passato un paio di giorni nella zona di Chichester. E abbiamo scoperto West Wittering.

I ♥ Palermo!

I want the sea. I'm craving for sea. But not just any sea, of course not. I could go to Brighton if I'd be happy with any sea. No, I want my sea, the Mare Nostrum, the Mediterranean, the most beautiful sea in the world. And most of all, I'd like to be in Palermo. I had the chance, years ago, to get to know Palermo and Sicily, and I've been there many times. And I always wish to return there. Because Palermo is... well, a lot of things.

Voglio, anelo, desidero, bramo il mare. Prepotentemente, in questo momento. Ma naturalmente non mi interessa un mare qualsiasi. Fosse così, mi basterebbe salire su un treno per Brighton. No, io voglio il mio mare, il Mare Nostrum, il Mediterraneo, il più bel mare del mondo. E, soprattutto, vorrei essere a Palermo. Ho avuto la fortuna, anni fa, di conoscere Palermo e la Sicilia da vicino, guidata da chi ci è in qualche modo cresciuto dentro, e ci sono tornata molte volte. E sempre desidero tornare. Perché Palermo è... un sacco di cose.
