Just a walk

The last Tuesday we went to London to attend The Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House (amazing performance, btw!). We arrived early and we had a few spare hours before the beginning of the ballet, so we walked.

Martedì scorso siamo stati a Londra per vedere La Bella Addormentata alla Royal Opera House (meraviglioso spettacolo, peraltro!). Essendo arrivati presto, avevamo qualche ora libera prima del balletto, così abbiamo passeggiato.

When I first set a step into Royal Opera House

Last Thursday I finally stepped into the Royal Opera House for the first time. On stage: Giselle.

That's funny. I spent 34 years of my life in Milan and I've been to Teatro alla Scala only once, whilst I've been here for less than five months and I've already attended a Covent Garden ballet. And I'm going again in a couple of months, when maybe there won't be downpours or TFL strikes. This time, they were. And we happily made our way from Paddington station to the theatre by foot. I would have never missed the performance. And once there, I know I would have never missed the theatre itself.

Giovedì scorso sono finalmente entrata alla Royal OperaHouse per la prima volta. In scena: Giselle.

È curioso. Ho passato 34 anni della mia vita a Milano e sono stata alla Scala solo una volta, mentre sono qui da meno di cinque mesi e ho già visto un balletto a Covent Garden. E ci tornerò nel giro di un paio di mesi, quando magari non ci saranno né il diluvio, né lo sciopero delle metropolitane che ci hanno omaggiato settimana scorsa. Da Paddington station fino al teatro l'abbiamo fatta a piedi ed è stata una bella, lunga passeggiata. Ma per nulla al mondo mi sarei persa uno spettacolo che attendevo da tanto. E una volta lì, ho capito che sarebbe stato imperdonabile anche solo non vedere il teatro.
