Discovering UK: a walk to Sonning

The weather forecast's promising windy and stormy days. By the way, it's already getting colder and yesterday we had: rain, hailstorm, sun, clouds, rain again, sun, rain, sun and cold blasts. Never getting bored. But spring is already in the air, with magnolias and cherry trees blossoming all around.

You know when in Mary Poppins they all jump into the chalk drawing? Well, that's exactly what it felt like when last week we walked to Sonning, enjoying the warmth of an incredible bright, cloudless 16-degrees Sunday.

Le previsioni del tempo promettono giorni di vento e tempesta. Peraltro, le temperature si sono già abbassate e ieri, nell'ordine, abbiamo avuto: pioggia, grandine, sole, nuvole, ancora pioggia, sole, pioggerellina con nuvola di Fantozzi, sole e folate di aria gelida. Ché non ci vogliamo annoiare. Però, via, la primavera ormai è qui, con magnolie e ciliegi finalmente in fiore.

Avete presente quando in Mary Poppins saltano tutti nel disegno di gesso sul marciapiede? Ecco, è proprio così che ci siamo sentiti la scorsa settimana camminando verso Sonning nel tepore di un'incredibile domenica luminosa e senza nuvole, accarezzati da 16 meravigliosi gradi centigradi.

Discovering UK: an outing to Cotswolds

The Cotswolds were something we missed last summer (btw, you can read about our August trip here, here and here). Not enough time to go everywhere we would have liked to. Therefore we saved them for a weekend outing which is what we did last week.

I Cotswolds ce li siamo un po' persi l'estate scorsa (a proposito, potete leggere delle nostre ferie d'Agosto e dei posti che abbiamo visitato qui, qui e qui). Il tempo non è mai abbastanza, quindi vedere tutto quello che avremmo voluto non era possibile. Così, li abbiamo rimandati e finalmente, due weekend fa, ci siamo andati.
